Where in Ireland would be great for a holiday with our children?

We are thinking of taking DD (6) and DS (2) to Ireland in the Easter holidays. We would probably rent a cottage for a few days. Where would people recommend? We have been before, in the early 90s, but we don't have much idea about places that would be great for children. Somewhere rural, but not completely isolated would be lovely. DH is Irish Australian (but too far back to have relatives to visit). We would love them to get a chance to meet Irish children and get a feel for Ireland. Somewhere not far from the sea would also be welcome.

The Ring of Kerry is beautiful. You have beaches & mountains as well as towns - and there are loads of B&B's etc to choose from,

Dublin is also great and you can visit the coast on the Dart train if yoiu want a beach.
