Back Story!
so there i am moaning at dh that we never have a 'summer holiday' as we go to in laws fantastic place in devon, ALL the time. Love the place to bits, kids roam free, close to beach, cheap (as it's free) and loads of room sooo, what am i moaning about...? welll it never seems to feel like a holiday, as i think this feeling can only be felt if you have booked somewhere and you get that lovely excited feeling of seeing something new and exclaiming at how lovely the bathrooms are!!!!

so i say to dh... right i'm taking the bull by the horns... i'm going on line to see if i can find somewhere in wales to book, close by the sea... swanky self catering.... so spent last 3-4 nights surfing the web and making a shortlist... found a lovely place last night, show it to dh who umms and ahhs... and then today says (paraphrasing here) if we're going to have a summer hol, why don't we go abroad? find a place in france (or similar, i.e. not too far away) and get a villa by the sea...???
Ahhhh! he is lovely! but... now i've got to start searching again...

so i need pointers for where to go, what websites to look at, what shoukld i look for? how much should i be paying...?

need 3 bed, self catering, close to beach (walking distance?) have no idea where to start.... 2 adults, 7yr old, 5yr old and 2yr old in tow

If you're still with me congratulations and thanks for taking the time to read this waffle (i should be lesson planning!)

French Life do a good brochure/website

Have you considered a Eurocamp style holiday in on eof the HUGE air conditioned, 3 bed vans? Get all the park facilities, kids clubs etc etc?? (Very popular with a lot of MNers)

Hi bea

take at look at my parents villa in the south of France which they advertise on Mumsnet on the small ads - here which would be great for you as it is ultra child friendly so perfect for you and your kiddy-winks

They offer discounts to mumsnetters too!

Good luck

have to second Milliways suggestion!!! These campistes are so fantastic as they're geared up for families and the kids just love it!!! We went here l;ast eyar and it was so good I booked up to go back this year!! I know it's not France (Can recommend loads of sites in France if you want) but the weather was great, venice was supeb and the campsite out of this world. Pools and beach were grilliant. Found it hard to leave the campsite to even visit venice!!! You can gte a bus (coach) direct from marco Polo to the campsite and can ravel easily up and down the coastal road by bus. caorle - 20 mins away is a loveley resort and has a big water park next door to bus station! We're going with canvas but you could book direct or with one fo the other tour operators. Or another site which looks fab and is MUCH closer to venice is camping marina di venezia - would book there but get to use my tesco vouchers for Portofelice!
