Any Recommendations for Venice??

Me and dh are hopefully having a weeks holiday in May with DS (4) and DD (11mths). We want somewhere that will be warm but not too hot for the kids, has lots to do for kids and adults and a nice beach. Would like to go to Greece or Italy and really like the sound of Venice. Is it good for a family holiday?? Any recommendations on where to stay??

I'd stay on the Venice Lido and try to find a hotel with an attached beach - all the beaches are privately owned by the hotels and if you are not staying at the hotel you have to pay a (pretty steep) daily fee to use it. You can then get a water bus across to Venice itself. I've not been there since DS was born but it is a lovely city and Italians are great for making a fuss of children.

We went with Keycamp to Ca Savio on the Cavallino Peninsula. It was bliss. Direct access to the beach. Kids club. A restaurant just outside the campsite towards the town served the most gorgeous and reasonable food. A ten min bus ride brought you to Punta Sabbioni where you could take a 30min water taxi ride into venice. I think there is another quite impressive keycamp site in Punta Sabbioni(not sure if i've spelt that correctly!) . Definitely one of our favourite holidays to date.
