Berlin - tips please!

Planning on hopefully driving to Berlin one day of our holiday at Easter and I've found online that there is some sort of low emmissions zone in the city. Is there anywhere to park outside of this and then maybe get the U-Bahn/Bus in?

How is best to get around? Is it worth paying for a tour bus, or would we be able to manage local transport - bearing in mind our German is almost non existant.

Any other tips at all would be appreciated.

I have been to Berlin for the day and seem to remember we got around on the metro. We got an all day pass which seemed cheap.

I can't help with the parking sorry as we arrived by train. The train systme is Germany is brilliant that you would expect they would have some sort of systme like you want!

Oh, and we don't speak ANY German at all - I can manage danke whilst blushing furiously!

I am tempted to get the train there rather than driving as I have heard that their system is brilliant. Would jsut then need to find parking in hannover or hamburg which are the cities closest to where we are staying. Will have to look into it.

Glad to hear you managed without german. It's taken my 5 years to get the hang of basic spanish, and although I'm planning on trying to learn a little german, I'm not too hopeful!
