Taxis at Mahon airport Menorca

Trying to do 'package' a bit cheaper by booking flights / hotel seperately. Any one travelled to Menorca and got taxi from airport to resort? Are there plenty of taxis? Any idea of prices?

It depends which resort you are going to. We did a one way car hire last May and it was the same price as a taxi about £70 iirc. But we were quite far out near Citudella. There was plenty of taxis as the door. But some places abroad insist on more than 1 taxi if 4 of you have luggage.

Hi, we'd like to go to Cala N Forcat but might not work out much cheaper if taxis are expensive.

hello i have been to menorca many times, and cala n forcat is quite far from the airport(bottom of island) to resort (at top of island) i reckon to get a a taxi it would be very expensive.
hire a car will work out so much cheaper, and you have got it for as long as you need.
i would say, if you drive, its a must to get a car in menorca, there are some gorgeous secluded beaches to be found.
hth have a great time

OK, will look into car hire then, quite like the idea of being able to 'explore' so that sounds good!

how old are your dcs?? cala n forcat is really rather busy. which may be your thing, but i personally preferred santa tomas or binibeca they are much smaller and quieter. binibeca is very very pretty also.
i suppose its a matter of taste, but if you hire a car you really will get to see some lovely places, and beaches.
cala galdana is very beautiful, and if you go there and over the bridge there is a sign for a quieter beach, its more popular these days, but really beautiful. (there is now a car park!!) when i first went, we had to walk through mosquito infested rough track to get there, but it was so worth it!! (i will try and remember the name and post again for you)
wish i was going this year!! im
have a smashing time. xx

Calan'forcat is where we were last year - I would not recommend it. It's kind of like a minature Blackpool and having seen the rest of the resorts around Menorca I would say it is not one of the best, there is not much scenery to look at either. Fine if you are into pubs/restaurants and don't mind keeping your dc up until all hours

Cala Galdana is really nice and where I would go back to or Santo Tomas both are much quieter and more relaxing albeit Santo Tomas only has one street.

A lovely lovely place for a day trip if you do hire a car is Fornells which is a quaint little fishing village.

This picture is the closest I can find to show you what it is like. The main street is like this and full of pubs and restaurants with large inflatables/play areas for the children, it is all a tad tacky.

You are also out of place if you don't have a tattoo....

when we went to cala n forcat, we missed the coach as one of our suitcases was missing, so had to report it, the reps gave 2 taxi drivers 50euros each so 100euros to take us to the resort.

Fornells
