Where would be a good place to go on holiday in Germany in August?

We need to go to Hanover for a wedding and we are thinking of having our main holiday there too. We've got one son who will be 2 1/2.

Where would be a nice place to go? I was thinking of Lake Constanze but it is absolutely miles and would be a really long drive. Is there anywhere nearer to Hanover that is nice?

We normally camp tho I think we will try to find some self catering accomodation and just want to chill out and potter really.

There's a center parcs near Hannover which is a good one, or a fantastic camping site called Sudsee which is brillant. Nearby there are 2 fantastic theme parks - Heide park and Seregti(sp) Safari park. These are all near to Lunburger Heath which is germany's largest national park.

There is also the Harz mountains which is alovely area and about a 2 hour drive from Hannover.
