Any thoughts? Particularly about the family rooms which seem to be away from the main part of the hotel, unless you go for those pricey Kiko family rooms?

yup - we went last March and are thinking about it again for this year...

we had a 3 year old and a one year old so stayed in a one bed suite which was fab - ds loved going to sleep on the sofa bed each night.

the family rooms are not in the main building - they are in a little annexe which you reach via a short foot tunnel - no great hassle, but poss noisier as closer to the road? think the kiko rooms are also in that annexe?

think we'd be happy enough in the one bed suite again tbh.

its a brilliant hotel - great breakfast buffets, great choice of restauarants, great pools, great kids club/playground, close to beach, marina and main playa blanca resort.

Thanks SO much for posting Gladders. We would be going for the family suite - we have DC's the EXACT same age as yours when you went, but we will also have my mum with us, so the family room will work out cheaper than two rooms interconnecting. The annexe sounds like a drag, and some reviews have said it's a bit more drab than the main building, but apparently they have a proper kitchenette, Fridge and Microwave in them, which will hopefully make meal times, drinks and icecreams cheaper for the kids.

Did you take toddler rails for your 3 year old, or did the hotel provide them? (or did your DC not need them?).

Also, was the cot a proper cot or a travel cot?

Finally - SORRY! Is the family rooms annexe away from the beach or towards the beach?

Any other handy tips? Local restaurants etc? I'm one click away from booking it but am just waiting for my head of department to sign off my leave.

glad to help!

we didn't take toddler rails - ds was ok in his bed by then. the sofa wasn't too high up...

cot was a travel cot but quite a large one, and provided with proper bed linen (cannot remember about the quilt though as we use sleeping bags...

family rooms are further away from beach but not by far. they are diagonally across the road from main hotel but linked by tunnel with aquarium in the walls (kids loved it) - the gym, a large pool and a kids pool are also over there and these aer all quieter than the main ones. also think there is a restauarant over there for breakfast in high season? one definite benefit is that family roomw are nearer the minimarket (not hotel operated)!

think all the rooms have the kitchenette with microwave and fridge and separate sink? this was in a cupboard off the corridor which sounds dodgy but was perfect.

Thanks Gladders - any other great pearls of wisdom before I disappear off and book?

I think we'll stick with the family room as it would be another £350 to do the interconnecting rooms...

I've read the pools are quite chilly?

Who did you book through, just out of interest - can you remember?

pools are quite chilly yes - very few takers when we went in March.... kids ones were ok though as nice and shallow.

we booked through sovereign. if you go through them, don't bother paying the £100 each way for private transfers - all it buys is a place at the front of the taxi queue. normal taxi journey was only about £30!

enjyo enjoy!

Sycamoretree · 13/01/2009 15:37

Great! Have booked - also through sovereign - couldn't figure out how to nix the included transfers online but to book through the operator costs substantially more, so hey ho, can't win them all!

It mentions something about 120Euro voucher per room. Did you get this? What is it, something you can use for a free meal or whatever at the hotel?

OP posts:
gladders · 13/01/2009 16:26

we didn't get the vouchers but they sound good? there are 2 v child friendly restauarants in hotel - poolside open during the day (do proper food inc pasta) or the italian down at the bottom in the evening - child portions of everything available and also the ice cream bar at the bottom.... am soooooo going back some time soon!

(failing that there is a spa.....)

glads
