Recommendations for reasonble villa for 6 in Tuscany/Umbria in August?

We are looking for a villa in Italy in August (Tuscany/Umbria region). We already have a place booked for one week, but are hoping to do another week with friends. As the second week is at a rather expensive place we need something really reasonable for the first week. We are four adults and three kids (two five year olds and an 18 month old), but the baby will just stay in our room so just need something with three bedrooms with a pool. Has anyone got any useful recommendations?

You're going to be hard pushed to find somewhere cheap anywhere in Italy in August! Will you be going in the first half or the second half of the month? If after the 15th you'll probably have a bit more luck but you'd need to be very flexible.

We left it until the very last minute but found in a classifieds site online a very basic apartment nr Grosseto for 700 euros for the second 2 weeks of Aug. Villas with pools I found were still really expensive, but apartments went down quite a lot iin price. How about trying Le Marche? Much less frequented by foreigners so possibly a bit cheaper and right next to Umbria, so the same scenery and food.

Try Villa San Raffaello for a competitively priced holiday in Le Marche www.villasanraffaello.com - we took my 16 month old son there at the end of last summer. The house and barn are divided into 4 self-catering apartments and there is a large fenced-off pool and loads of outside space for the kids to play.

The english owners and their children couldn't do enough to make us welcome, including regular supplies of their organically home-grown fruit and veg. Thoroughly recommended.

Thanks. That's helpful as I had found that link somewhere else, but good to have a recommendation.

Agree with Brangelina, try Le Marche for slightly cheaper properties. We stayed here www.le-marche-explorer.com/property_details.php?name=azienda_cerqueto in 2007 and really enjoyed it, it is quite a way doem a "white" road with steep drive but worth it for the views. Also have this saved on my bookmarks but know nothing about itwww.lemarchelettings.it/ and www.ownersdirect.co.uk/italy/IT865.htm
