Anyone stayed at Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa in Florida?

How was it? It looks ideal inthe brochure and its a 2 bedded room, I don't want to go on holiday for 2 weeks and have to squeeze into a tiny hotel room with dh and 2 dcs.

Is it close enough to Disney World?
Anything else I should know?

Hi Flier,

It will be nice (although I have not stayed there). I have just had a look at it and it looks typically like our timeshare resort www.starwoodvacationownership.com/sheraton_vistana_villages/photos.jsp which the Lake Buena Vista will be also - all these type of places are - all "resorts" are 99% timeshare.

We first went to the Sheraton through Virgin and could not believe how lovely the apartments were - we bought 2 weeks of timeshare.

Please do not be put off though by the words timeshare or rather as it is called now "vacation ownership". We chose to go to our meeting, but if you are not interested, just do not answer the phone if it rings in your apartment.

Lake Buena Vista is just down the road from where we stay (real quiet end of I Drive) and the distances look about the same to all the attractions. Looking at the details, you have free transportation to the parks anyway.

Hope you have a lovely time.

www.tripadvisor.com have reviews of this lodging together with photos to look at. It looks very nice and many of the reviews are favourable.

thank you ladies. I'll take a look at the sheraton via virgin too. Trying to decide if this place is best for us and comparing it price wise to a villa, but there doesn't seem to be a huge difference in cost.

I have never stayed in a villa although I know friends that have and they liked it.

I prefer a resort because of the days at the pool the DS's like to play with other children and there is always some form of entertainment going on for them - quite often midday indoor which keeps them occupied and out of the heat/sun. Happy smiling faces all round!

I too enjoy that aspect, but hate the squashed hotel rooms

I don't think you will be disappointed with the 2 bed apartments in the resort - which ever "resort" you go to.

thanks bellavita

If its the one I'm thinking of I stayed there around 12 years ago when it was called the Vistana resort but is now the sheraton. It was very nice then and the master bedroom was very nice with a huge bathroom and jacuzzi. It had several swimming pools spread around the grounds which was nice although they got very busy after a day at the parks.
It is also quite near to Disney, around 10 mins to World Drive. Although I really liked it there I prefered to have more space (when more kids came along) so bought a villa there.
You will find that villas are really quite inexpensive at the moment and you can get some really good deals. have a look at www.loyaltyusa.com a company run by an english lady called Yvonne who manages around 50 houses. You can get some of them (including mine called Minnies Mansion) from $95 per night (depending on season) and that is for a 4 bedroom house with a private pool and games room. Worth looking at it as there are some fabulous bargains to be had.

loyalty manages quite a few houses all of which are no more than 4 miles from Disney and they are around 15 mins drive to the Lake Buena vista area.
