Can anyone recommend a nice cottage within about 3 hours of London where they would be happy to stay for a week?

i envisgage being within easy ( say 25 mins) reach of beach and possibly on a complex offering on site activities . Also need at lesat communal pool on site.

Also - not too expensive as we're credit crunched here!
Thanks

Thanks hulababy - I know both these websites - i was looking for personal recommendations if possible having had a few bad experiences of staying in cottages purely from websites that havenb't lived up to their expectatoins!!

We stayed [http://www.classic.co.uk/cottage.aspx?year=2009&code=1763&page=desc&srcpge=lst&savedsearch=2009~200 9~0~0~0~0~~arch~~0~0~0~0~0~Z~Sunday~0~0~0~N~N~N~N~0~0~0~0~N~N~N~N~N~N~N~~~~N~0~0~N~N here] a couple of years ago. No swimming pool but lovely grounds, childrens play equipment, very close to M5 so easy run from London and about 20 mins to beach. Further to north coast but still easy. Cottage spotlessly clean and owners very welcoming.

Sorry I'm rubbish at links. Try www.classic.co.uk and search on 'Arch'

Try at National Trust cottages. We stayed in one in the Lakes and it was lovely.

We have stayed at Gladwin's Farm on the Suffolk/Essex borders. Not too far from the sea - Walton on the Naze/Frinton or further up the coast to Southwold. Lovely area - Constable country. But the swimming pool etc means that it isn't very cheap.

How about Dorset? Is this too far? (Sorry I'm not from London). Have a look at www.corfecastleholidays.com/ Some really beautiful, quiet beaches, very few people, uncommercialised. www.accesslanguages.co.uk/pb2k/worbarrow.html or for somewhere a little more buzz, try lulworth cove.

ps, we stayed at Chaffeys cottage.
