Caravan/campsites in South of France - any recommendations?

Our annual Welsh caravan holiday has been so miserable for the past 2 or 3 years weatherwise that we are looking to hire a static caravan in the South of France instead. I have been to Hyeres (near Toulon) years ago and loved it, and was wondering if anyone had any campsite/caravan recommendations for that area or any others they liked in France. Must be somewhere with a fair chance of good weather, so not too far North!

TIA.

Try Fonrives - near Villereal which is near Bergerac/Burgundy. Really lovely place - great swimming pools etc.

Thank you. Does anyone else have any recommendations? I would love to hear about anything nice on the coast... Thanks

We stayed at Domaine de la Nogiere, near the coast between St Maxime and Frejus last summer. We were there with Keycamp, and found it a lovely site - quiet, clean, friendly and the weather was lovely. We're going back this year, and staying a bit longer too.

We did look at sites nearer the cote d'azur, but my dh thinks that the coastal traffic could make the ones on the coast less pleasant - ie. everyone going up and down the coast in their cars would be going right past the entrance to the sites, which he thought would be more stressful.

Where we stayed, we were close enough to the coast to be at the beach in half an hour, but we could also head inland. I particularly loved Grasse, and looking round a perfume factory.

Thanks Sunnygirl. Will check those out. Anyone else?

We love the languedoc down on the South coast - gorgeous weather and tons to see and do, not just beaches etc - my parents have a villa there so I am not very helpful in terms of campsites etc but do visit their website if you want to find out more about the area and things to see/do in the Languedoc here

Thank you. It looks lovely. Is it too hot in August do you think - I notice that it's mostly booked either side of then?

No its not too hot at all - we had a couple of provisional bookings for the school holidays that have jsut fallen through so the weeks have been made available again. July and August are glorious and they could book out 5 times over! Doubt those weeks will be around for long!

What sort of campsite are you looking for and I can ask around if you like the look of the Languedoc

Oooh that villa sounds very tempting. Do they do discounts for Mumsnetters?

(I would have to have a good think and see if I could drag anyone else along to share with us if we went that route.)

Re campsites - I would like one with static caravans and fairly quiet - not used to sites with lots of entertainment or anything.

Hiya

Yes, they do offer mumsnetters a discount - they have an ad here on the small ads.

Send them an email with the dates you would potentially be interested in so they can give you a reduced price and you can then see if you could find some friends/family to share the villa with - you would even potentially have some babysitting opportunities if you had some people with you! The villa is plenty big enough for lots of people - we were there last year with 7 adults and 2 children!

I will have a think about caravan sites and ask some neighbours etc

Went to Esterel near Agay with Thomson Al Fresco a couple of years ago. Nice relaxed park, although we went in early June and I imagine it could get quite busy in high season. Didn't do all that much apart from a few days at the beach, drove up to Cannes for the day and I had a morning horse riding which was great. Spent most evenings sat out on the decking with a bottle of wine and BBQ.

Thomson mobiles were brand new and really well maintained, unlike the Eurocamp ones that I have previously stayed in! They are offering mumsnetters a discount here.
