I am planning to take dd to visit family in Dublin this Feb, she will be 9 months old. By the look of it the next size up carseat I am planning to buy is not as portable as the first stage ones. Will be going to several places and using relative's cars, possibly I will also need a taxi from the airport. Does anybody know anything about hiring carseat? Not sure where to look. Thanks.

We normally drive over on ferry, however, about three years ago, we flew and hired a car at the airport. We hired the correct carseats from the hirecar company.

Can you take the infant one - it'll probably still be fine weight wise (there is quite an overlap) and more portable.

check this out?

Never used them as I live here though. If this is no good, ask on rollercoaster.ie, on the chit chat and trivia board. Lots of traffic there, somebody would be able to help.

Lizs, baby ones (with handle) ok up to 9kilos, but I think you could really carry on using it until baby about 12 or 13 kilos really. Maybe it would be snug! But not dangerous, I don't think.

Some go to 10kg (stage 0) most to 13kg(stage 0+). I'm sure we did this when dd was small enough.

Thanks for the advice, will check the guidelines on our carseat - she just looks massive in it!
