Any ideas for a short break at half term in the snow but not skiing.

Hi - we'd like to see real snow with DD's (4 & 6)a city probably as we are not into skiing & the girls don't like getting too cold. Cheap of course! I am considering Tallin (Estonia) but any thoughts welcome. What about Scotland? Thanks.

a friend has just returned from Stockholm? they stayed at the floating youth hostel (I think the af Chapman) which they said was lovely, esp if you can get a cabin on deck (needs booking early). they said they had a lovely time.

Oslo is great - skating in the city centre, and you can get a train on a few mins journey to an area where you can rent toboggans, then go on an old 1956 Cresta run. When you get to the bottom you can get on the train (with your day ticket) and travel back up to the top of the run and sledge down again! It's where the first ski jump is - Holmensomething. We've been at half term and had lots of snow but of course it can't be guaranteed. Also lots else to do in Oslo.

If you stay somewhere like a Radisson, there will be a heated pool too.
