Trying to find some kind of compromise here. I like it hot, hot, hot - am a sun bunny!

We went to Majorca last June and kids thought it was too hot (well baby did, but he was 13mths, i think he'll be better now he's older)

Anyway, a couple of people have suggested France. However, I have bad childhood memories of spending summer holidays in Brittany where the weather was just like Wales or Cornwall (total pot luck whether it was nice or chucjing it down!)

I don't know anything about any other areas of France. Is a holiday in France different from a beach holiday in Europe?

Any opinions/experience?

South of France = Riviera or Languedoc is lovely. Long sandy beaches. Nice food. Family friendly.

Riviera is more expensive I would say. I've been along the Languedoc coast from Argeles, Vias Plage, Cap D'Agde, Le Grau de Roi is very nice. Huge beach with a busy little port behind. And very french.

We stayed in september in a Tikki Hut on the beach at St Tropez. That was fab and there are some beautiful beaches within and easy drive. I have Cavaliere or le lavandou on my list for next time.

Juan les pins has a gorgeous beach and Antibes is a pretty little town. Easy to explore the coast by train too.

Ooh I wish I was there now. It's bloody freezing in Brussels today.

I should say we always rent an apt or a mobile home and go for a cheap flight. We don't do package holidays.
