Soft-play at Puxton Park near Weston-super-Mare Somerset

Website here

Just thought I'd pop a quick review on here as despite my MIL having lived in Weston for years, she didn't ever mention this place, and we've been going to a horrible soft play in a pub for the past few years.

We went over Christmas, it was fairly quiet and quite cheap as they reduce the rates in the winter. There wasn't much to see outside (or maybe there was, but we didn't get to it!) but that was fine because it was freezing.

The soft play section was great, very similar to the one at Paradise Park in Hayle if you've ever been to that one.

Also nice-ish cafe in the soft play and decent restaurant in the farm shop area. Farm shop is fab with lots of gluten etc free foods, eco friendly cleaning stuff, fair trade and organic food as well as usual farm shop food.

Definitely worth a visit if you're on a long journey down to the south-west (it's literally a couple of minutes off of J21 (just below Bristol / above Cheddar) on the M5), or in the area for a holiday. It's also close to the Brean Sands holiday site.

We live local and agree softplay is great, but that is all that this is really, yet they charge adult admission. There is very little outside, even in the Summer - just some guinea pigs and rabbits and a trampoline. Cost is not a problem if you are one adult with a number of children in tow, but not for two parents paying for the privilage of sitting on plastic chairs listening to children scream - and don't even think about it with grandparents in tow.
The cafe looks good at first glance, but we have been disappointed every time. They sell wonderful organic food in the farm shop, but that's not what you get at the cafe - same old rubbish I'm afraid, often with very poor service. You can tell I'm not a fan! I'm glad you had a good time though. And they do host brilliant birthday parties - no better venue in the Weston / Bristol area.

We love it!! My dd has just turned 2 and she loves it, the slides, the other kids, the noise everything! If you get an annual pass it works out super super cheap as under 5's are free.

We love to sort of pop there for an hour if the weather is pants (we are champion walkers but get bit fed up of the rain) or go with my sisters children.

Derek Mead isn't daft about what and how much he charges though is he!!

agree it's odd how much they charge for adults inwinter, as all farm animals away. in summer, there's quite a few animals - we spent over an hour looking round the farm bit before we got to soft play. the soft play is as good as the equivalent at woburn safari park.

shop also fantastic. it's realtively new & expanding. we went in summer & got vouchers for later that year. in winter you see MPV's trun up with one adult & about a zillion kids. big enough for grown ups to play on.

alie, went to cafe in sep & it seemed better than previous visits.

we went to puxton park today with our nine year old boy, thinking it would be a really nice day out for the easter holidays.
we were very wrong, it ended up costing us £21 because we had 2 grow ups and our son.
the play barn was a really good softplay area
but that was all it was. there was no pony rides untill 2.30pm and this was at 10.30am, the milking barn was not till 3.30pm there was no members of staff at the pets corner and people were picking the animals up by them selfs. one lady was bit by one of the rabbits in there. the birds of pray were all in there cages and yet again no staff around anywhere, it did say you could have your picture taken with the birds but with no staff around at all we could not even do this. we come away feeling very disappointed that we had paid £21 just to sit in a cafe on a plastic chair watching our son and i hate to think how many other kids playing on the softplay area. not what we call value for money or a good family day out.
we went to make a compaint about there being nothing to do and was told by staff "you saw the animals didn't you, and that they have peolpe pay for just half hour" which i myself dont understand.
i was so upset when i got home i sent a email only to have the same lady answer it as i had spoken to at the park, saying that we must of timed our visit wrong and that there was staff at the birds of pray even after we told her there was not. she did not even go to see if the staff was there and if not why not, just told us the staff was there when they were not at all.

i will be telling every body i know what i think of puxton park and how rude they are.

I don't rate Puxton Park either for similar reasons.

I think the membership is quite cheap though and so if you live local and you've got preschoolers it is a good softplay.

Now Folly Farm in Pembrokeshire is a FANTASTIC farm park if you are ever that way

saggyhairyarse · 16/04/2009 23:05

I can't believe it is £7.50 for an adult and £6.50 for a child!!!!! I went a while ago and it must have been a promotional price.

Folly Farm is the same price but it is AMAZING, definitely worth travelling to for the day:
