Speed Cameras on M42

Does any one know if they are still working when the signs for lower speeds are off.
Does this make sense?
Came through on Sunday at about 78 MPH when the restriction signs were off. Then spent the rest of the journey wondering if I've been 'snapped'. I go along there a lot so could do with finding out.

They do flash very visibly when they go off, so unless you saw it, its unlikely... (I've not been caught yet seeing them flash at the car beside me looked like a lightning flash in my mirrors though)

I've never seen, and don't know anyone who's been caught when they're set to de-restricted. Not really worth the risk though, it's only a 10 mile stretch, and I rarely see it set to de-restricted anyway!

Thanks Ditzzy. I know on a sensible level it's a relativly short bit of motorway. But when I'm on there at 12 at night and often the only car it is too tempting to pootle at 70 as have a slightly wizzy car and it feels good to put your foot down a bit in those circustances (not that I would of course)

Its the unmarked police cars on the M40 that terrify me...

I have a slightly wizzy car too, I just stay out of sixth gear through the speed camera stretch so my engine still feels lively at 70
