Gite with Pool or Hot Tub...

I am trying to gauge the family market and demand for pools when on holiday

Let me set the scene. You are renting a gite in central france (few hours south of paris), the summers are warm but not HOT like the south of France. The gite has lawned acre of garden filled with places for kids to explore and toys to have fun with. There is a swimming pool (heated indoor and heated outdoor open throughout the summer) within a 15 minute drive or a Lido within a 5 minute drive. So to clinch the booking what would you prefer...

A - I prefer a swimming pool at the gite (so for kids and adults)
or
B - I prefer a hot tub/spa at the gite (so for adults)

Thanks in advance

Pool. Kids will always want a pool. Fairer on them.

pool - if you're hiring a gite then you're looking to escape other people no?otherwise you would have gone for a hotel...

you could always have one of those corner spas in the pool to suit both maybe?

A - I always look for a pool with holiday accomodation.

Hot tubs are lovely in cold weather but not what i would want during a French summer.

Never go to France on holiday unless the gite has a pool.

To give a slightly different view point. I think it depends when you see the gite being used - all year or just the peak summer months. Also, who your target market is.

We have a villa in the South of France (with a pool) and have been wondering about putting in a hot tub as well.

The reason is that the (unheated) pool can only be used from mid-end May until mid-Sept. We would like to increase our rentals outside of this period and a hot tub could possibly help with this. I agree that during July and August it would be unlikely to be used but outside of these months a hot tub could be a real attraction.

Also, many families with very young children are put off renting a villa with a pool unless it's extremely well fenced or covered. An alarm isn't enough protection.
