We would like to go somewhere either abroad or in the UK for a week at May half term - with two kids aged 2 and 7 in tow!

Anyone recommend anywhere?

I have checked Center Parcs and Disneyland Paris - and they seem to be around £1000 for 5 days.

Any other suggestions as it is for my birthday (special one with an '0')!!!

Okay......this is not "stunning" but last May I took my lovely DCs to Woolacombe in North Devon. We had a real mixture of weather (from mahoosive floods to stunning sunshine) and we had more than enough in that region to fill our time.

We stayed in a B&B called Franklin House which, for a B&B was excellent (IME!). Breakfasts were fab and the family room there is stunning and huge. Despite crap weather on our first day, DCs and I were on the beach in wellies playing cricket and exploring rock pools. However, second day was stunning weather and I have never known crowds like it - literally how I imagine Benidorm might be in high season.....no experience mind!

Alternatively, would highly recommend Southwold. Will find name of glorious and extremely accommodating hotel we stayed in (they were fab considering me and my best mate turned up with 4 kids, dripping wet having been literally blown away from local campsite in 35mph winds!!! ). Had a fab couple of days there with totally crap weather but also one day with DH and DCs at end of August where we able to have fab picnic followed by copious amounts of swimming and beach cricket

We're going here may half term - recommended by friends and it's about 10 mins from Disney. Close to parc Asterix, paris etc. I used tesco vouchers to pay for ti and my friend has booked direct - much cheaper than Disney hotels and you can do your won food ratehr than the overspriced rubbish at Disney!. Here's hoping for dry weather!

That looks good - did you pay a depost first then use your tescos vouchers after to pay it off?

We are going away May half term for 2 weeks, to a First Choice 4* Holiday Village in the Algarve.
It cost £1400 for the 4 of us for 2 weeks which I thought was great

cornsilk · 01/01/2009 15:34

Did you book through french life?

cornsilk · 01/01/2009 15:35

mosschops that's an excellent deal

mosschops30 · 01/01/2009 15:36

here

cornsilk · 01/01/2009 15:49

Hey that looks really nice!

mosschops30 · 01/01/2009 16:12

Dont know what its like, but looks nice and was cheapest we can find although I notice the free child places have gone.

I can recommend the Viva Menorca apartments in Calan Bosch in Menorca, also with First Choice, also 4 star, have been two years in a row and both us and the dc's loved it in every way.
Normally comes in at about £1600 for 2 weeks so may be cheaper for one week in May, btw we have been in May both times and the weather was glorious

cornsilk · 01/01/2009 17:24

Thanks - who did you travel with?

mosschops30 · 01/01/2009 18:13

Both times were with First Choice and were great. (I would go back to Cala N Bosch every year if dh would let me)

We were on a budget last year and I found that Thomas Cook were much cheaper than everyone else. Have just had a look for you and there are some 2 and 3 star properties for half term week from £880 upwards for a family of four in algarve, menorca slightly more expensive but not much.

HTH

cornsilk · 01/01/2009 18:16

Thanks - you are a star!

No probs, I love looking for holidays, probably my old career coming back to haunt me, it takes me at least 6 weeks to choose ours every year

Hi all,
Has anyone got any suggestions for June with childcare?

Hardly get any time off from kids at home and desperately need a break from routine with "very busy" 5yr boy and 6 month old Dd.
A bit of Sun in the Med is what I am dreaming of these depressing cold dark days.

Leslaki · 01/01/2009 22:27

Hi Cornsilk! I paid a deposit with canvas - were Canvas Life, formally Camping/French Life!!! they then refunded the deposit when my tesco vouchers came through. I do like a freebie!!!

ps I also like cala n bosch!!!
