Holiday alone

DH doesn't like beachy holidays as he is very fair and bald. I am contemplating taking DS on holiday in the spring by myself. DS will be about 12 months. Am I mad? Is there anyone out there who wants to join me somewhere like Egypt with their LO?

Does sound slightly mad, but I'm sure a) it is doable, and b) lots of people have done it!
Think the key is bringing lots of entertainment.
DH and I took my ds on hols to Spain when he was 9.5mo, admittedly he was hard work, didn't like take off or landing and was not happy at being made to sat in our laps! He did sleep for long parts of the journey though. Also we were travelling by Easyjet so not the most comfortable of flights!

Flight is no prob. DS and I went to see my parents in Vancouver in October(10 hr flight) and I coped with that one...

What if you're ill on holiday? (quite likly in Egypt I would think)

I was a single parent for 6 years and only ever took ds on holiday with other people in case I was ill.

Can't you dh wear a hat? Loads of other bald fair people cope on beach hoildays

Yes. He could. And would complain mightily like a small child throughout. Itis easier just to leave him at home. I would far prefer to go with someone. Just need to find someone to go with!

turtle - egypt is very doable with a baby if you go to the red sea. as you know we've just been when DS was 7.5mo and we loved it. people love babies and hotels seem very helpful and geared up for kids. we've been 3 times - incl once when pregnant and then once with DS - and love it. i wouldn't go much later than feb/march though as it would start to get too hot.

another oiption is the canaries - lovely and warm but not too hot. lanzarote has lovely beaches.
