Sorrento is quite an expensive place to go to.

When are you going, how old are the children and how long will you be staying these are all factors into how much the holiday will cost.

I have just put into google "package holidays to sorrento" and it brought up Portland Holidays, Thomson etc.

here is the Thomson site

its very expensive and that fall down a cliff face into the bay of naples there is NOTHING for children to do!

CHildren will be 1, 4 and 6 by then.

wedding is 1st june so travel somewhere around then from manchester airport (which narrows things down!)

Had managed to successfully google a bit more and its just not feasible that we all go, which means that we can't have our first ever family holiday next year (which we were going to in lieu of honeymoon which we didn't have) and that DH will be on his own in a country he doesn't know

Well, funny thing is, I put into the Thomson site that you would be going 1st June (obviously you would travel a couple of days before) and I put the childrens ages as 1,2,3 and it would be a weeks holiday flying from Manchester.

It came out at something like £3700.

Very expensive.

MerlinsBeard · 27/12/2008 22:58

our wedding cost about £1.5 !!!

Too dear. Really it's too dear for DH on his own to go. but at least it would be cheaper that way! None of us has up to date passports so would have to include that cost as well, we couldn't get a cab anywhere because there are 5 of us so it would mean hiring a car.....i could carry on!!

If i didn't have children it does look very nice

You need to take out a 2nd mortgage to renew passports!

Agree it does look nice though.

I am sure your BIL will understand if just DH goes.

MerlinsBeard · 27/12/2008 23:02

we rent so that would be bloody expensive to take out a mortgage and then a second one

Thank you for your help

Step away from package holidays!!!! Way too expensive. I've briefly looked for you. I can find a villa in sorrento (I am no good at links so google sorrento-villas.com) for about £350-£400 for the week.

First choice airways go from Manchester and flights for all 5 of you come in at around £770.

You will probably get that cheaper if you look at BA.com and are prepared to fly from Manchester through London. Your flights are to Naples (easyjet and various other budget airlines go there so if you can travel away from Manchester it is better and cheaper).

Naples is around a 15 mile journey to Sorrento.

Not looked at car hire but does any of this sound better to you? Don't be scared about booking yourself. Tour companies are there to make a big profit out of you so do it yourself as it keeps the costs down.

Let me know if I can help anymore.
