Resorts between Barcelona and Portaventura, Spain?

We want to book a villa in a nice resort somewhere in between Barcelona and Portaventura (the theme park)next Easter. I know some of the resorts around there are rather Tacky. Any recommendations for a pleasant family orientated resort with a nice beach in that area?

We stayed in Salou, \link{http://www.thomsonalfresco.co.uk/sangulihere} and it was fantastic, couldn't fault it at all.

Beach was across the road from the site and was really nice with plenty of space and sunbeds.

We ate in a resturant called Tropicana (i think), nearly every night and the food was lovely.

Oh hadn't noticed you'd said villa. We stayed in a mobile home type thing. The parc we were on does do small villa come bungalow type things though, but you couldn't book those through Thomson Alfresco.

Thanks illegally- will have a look at Salou. Seems in quite a good position relative to the places we want to visit too.

Yes, we went to the theme park and i think it took about 20 min on the bus. We also got the bus to the main area of shops which was about 10 min away.

We would definatly go back there again.

try around Tortosa, or L'Hospital L'enfant as well, it is about halfway between the two.

tortosa is about 30 to 40 mins south of the theme park. Salou is the major tourist area for the brits, loads of good restuarants, bars, things for the kids, good beach and cambrils is next door, a lot of the Spanish holiday there, its a bit more upmarket!!

I agree with costababe with regard to Cambrils,we really liked it.We walked or caught the bus from there into Salou once or twice, but it wasn't our cup of tea.Salou is a Spanish Blackpool,Cambris had more character and a lovely harbour.

We went to Cambrils in September and really liked it. Stayed here.

Cambrils itself is lovely. Great beach, lots of nice restaurants (couple of Michellin starred ones at pretty reasonable prices), loads of great play areas along the seafront. We did day trips to Barcelona and Port Adventura.

DH's sister and her husband were a bit at the idea of staying on a holiday park as they usually do villas, but the bungalows are nicely done out and have a fair amount of privacy. Not too many tattooed, sun reading, chips with everything Brits abroad either!

DD and her cousin were both a bit too young for the kids club and the evening entertainment, but not sure how old your DCs are smartiejake.
