OK, we'll have 24 hours without ds's so it can't be too far away from Manchester/Stockport - and it's valentine's weekend () so I'll need to book soon, but I just want to escape for my birthday with dp - lovely hotel, swimming pool, preferably spa as well. My mum's paying so the sky's the limit (NOT, but if it's outrageously expensive we can put to it as well!).

TIA

The Quay Hotel and spa in conwy. Is fantastic for a night away, got a lovely pool and the spa is amazing, there's a chillout room which is overlooking the harbour where you can just relax in your robe and read magazines.

What about Malmaison in Liverpool?

thatoldchestnut · 17/01/2009 22:51

The Trough of Bowland/Ribble Valley near Clitheroe is lovely about an hours journey away.
How about The Inn at Whitewell which has a beautiful setting. Northcote Manor has great food.

thatoldchestnut · 17/01/2009 22:53

Sorry didn't read properly - no spa/pool but very relaxing anyway!

moondog · 17/01/2009 22:57

The Quay Hotel in Deganwy opposite Conwy castle is very very nice indeed
Grosvenor in Chester lovely (went last year) but no big public areas which is a shame as people watching is the best part of going to a hotel.

If I recall correctly Dotty, you are gay. Lots of gay couples have settled around this part of Wales which may be of relevance (apologies if it isn't).

Rookery Hall in Nantwich is where Becks proposed to Posh (but don't let that put you off!).

Nunsmere Hall near Northwich is very nice too.

Sorry, I must learn to do links.
