Bravo ladies!

Bensmum you must be amazingly brave and mad, I was recently wondering whether an hour journey with ds (12 months) would be too much!!

Have a lovely time, I would join in but I don;t think you'll see me from Norwich.

You know those skirts with petticoats under are all the rage for this year, too!

I'm sure there is still a wee bus which shuttles between the two stations - I was nearly run over by it last Saturday when I was going in to Central Station to get a train home .

But the bus always looks empty as it really is practically quicker to walk between the two. But with three kids and luggage..... I'd definitely get the bus or even a taxi.

Bensmum3 - sorry I can't make it to a Westcoast Mainline station, but hope you have a great journey next week.

We went to London last week - 4.5 hrs - not a patch on your journey of course! But went smoothly.

One thing that always works well for us is to printout the list of stations and times for ds2, then he checks off each station as we leave and announces loudly to the whole carriage how many minutes late the train is running!

If you are on a Virgin Pendolino there are sockets you can plug headphones in and listen to the radio and a children's channel and various different things. You can buy headphones on the train or just bring your own.

I think I probably am a bit mad .I'm thinking maybe we should take ds to legoland on the train next year and visit all the MN'ers on the East coast. Anyway, I think we will walk between the stations as Ainsmum has said she will point us in the right direction. We will look out for the little bus though especially as my children aren't used to being in traffic.
Thankyou for the station's idea, I have all the times and ds has been doing clock work in school. great idea, and I do hope we are on that type of virgin train as I discovered today that dd's personal cassette players not working.

Ainsmum, really it's ok, we will walk, dd and ds are used to walking and I'm working on reducing the amount of luggage,dh can carry the heaviest bag and I will have ds2 on my back, looking forward to a MN chat between stations !

bensmum3 · 08/04/2005 23:19

Forgot to say I said,I will look out for the little bus, because ds and dd will probably just walk out in front of it otherwise.

Thankyou cod for such a wonderful idea. We had a great journey down to cornwall! ds decided to potty train as we were on the train, and was only sick once. I've left thankyou's to miaou's dh, aimsmum, chatee ,giraffeski, tortoiseshell and wickedwaterwitch on the other thread, they were all wonderful, and very kind to give up their time to come and help us on our journey. Apart from a really busy time between bristol and plymouth the journey went smoothly, virgin trains even had a baby change table and radios the older 2 could plug their earphones into. Would definately recommend taking plenty of your own food though as they havent quite mastered the art of having real food or enough food on the train.Once again THANKYOU to everyone!
