The best restaurant in the Rubicon marina is El Mirador and it's opposite the Gruhbe shop and sort of stands on it's own. I'd definately consider that to be smart. The Casa de Comidas is also not bad.

On the west coast in a little village called El Golfo is an amazing place called Costa Azul which is totally un-smart but the setting is fantastic and the experience is worth it.

Anyone else?

There is also a stunnigly good restaurant in Puerto Calero. It's at the West end of the port near the submarine start point and worth a visit. I can't remember the name but it's the only 'smart' restaurant in the marina. Great shopping there too.
