Looking for child (3 year old) friendly and baby friendly (with highchairs) pub in Berks area - we are in Wokingham, preferably with garden, good food and if poss real ale for the men! For Easter get together with friends.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot

Hi Tallgirl,

Just wanted to say hi as i'm down the road in Newbury! We lived in Wokingham for 2 years,do you know the motorbike shop on London Road, just before the Ship Inn, we lived above there!! but moving to Derby in next couple of weeks. A lot of people i used to know took their children to the Downshire Arms nr Bracknell or the Green Man in Hurst is great apparently. OOOh hang on - the Stag and Hound just outside Binfield is great, really good ale, brewed there, in the country and lovely - go there its lovely

Thanks for your recommendations - we are going to the Bullfinch in Binfield and have managed to book a table as there are 8 of us but they only have one highchair which is ridiculous really! We cant book that (and there will be two babies) so will have to get there early and bag it!

Unfortunately the Green Man does not have highchairs - i think we should start a campaign for more places to have highchairs but i guess not everyone wants to be disturbed by screaming babies. Thanks for your suggestions.

Huskygirl - just thought I'd say hi, we're in Thatcham!

Hi Lunavix

Finally someone who lives near me!! Where did you have your baby/babies? I had mine at the Royal Berks but had all my scans and blood tests at the new West Berks Community Hospital. I have just read one of your threads about finding it hard meeting people in this area. I totally agree! Everyone knows everyone else, a lot of the people at the surgery etc were young mums (well younger than me i'm 23) who had gone to school together. We are moving back to Derbyshire in the next couple of weeks where all our family is as everyone is so much more friendly! Nice to meet u!

huskygirl - damn don't move away!

I'm 21 but as we're getting married in June and planning more lo's, I feel much older I was living in Reading when I had ds (11 months) so everything was at the Royal Berks!

The 'where do I take my children, and enjoy a nice pint at the same time???' dilema. I live in Arborfield and kama, we LOVED the Hungry horse for its child friendly atmosphere......and I say LOVED in past tense because.......

I discovered a Harvester pub called The Mansion House, and it is situated right bang smack in the middle of child heaven called 'Prospect park' in Tilehurst just off Reading. We now make going for a meal a day affair. Huge open space and great park for the kids just couple hundred metres from the pub. Back of the pub is the park, and great for my two children 6 and 4 with a tree they love to play on. They do a free unlimited salad bar with every meal, great to fill my children and a grilled Plantation Platter we all share with something for everyone, and a nice pint to Boot!!! 30 pounds well spent.
