Camapnile hotel refusing to refund overcharge?

I booked a room in advance, paying by credit card. The hotel then charged me again for the room - again by credit card. They are now claiming they can only refund me if I send address, bank details, e-mail and phone number. I have refused.

Anyone know what French law is on refunds?

contact your credit card and they should refund it.

Thanks - done that and filled out their form. I'm concerned that this sounds like a scam but I don't see how they can have got the information to send me the e-mail unless someone at Campanile was involved.
