I have been given the responsibility of booking a hotel for next weekend for my boyfriend and i. I have not been away with a man for such a long time so want it to be really special. Also not at a crazy price. Any ideas?

Pen-Y-Dyffren hotel (near Oswestry, Shropshire) is nice.

It's not too pricey and quite relaxed, quite small, not stuffy or overly trendy, the food is yummy, and you can book a room in the garden which is a bit more private than the main house.

Romantic strolls nearby including climbing up waterfalls etc if you fancy it.

The views are lovely.

Have a lovely time wherever you go.

Sighs longingly wondering when will ever get nice weekend away again!!!

jampots · 19/03/2005 18:41

The Lake District is lovely. There's a lovely hotel set high above Windermere which Im sure is very reasonable (but still nice) - very romantic area. I'll see if I can find it

Have stayed here and it was lovely. Very romantic, especially the bath Not much else to do though except a few quiet pubs, long walks and trips on the lake.

Cheap last minute deals as well if you ring them.

Tinker · 19/03/2005 19:02

Just found these for N Wales - one in Betws looks nice

fairyfly · 19/03/2005 19:04

Thanks

I am finding that they are all only booking for three nights as it is bank holiday

Tinker · 19/03/2005 19:04

In fact, lots of them look quite nice, except, possibly, the Wrexham Travelodge

WideWebWitch · 19/03/2005 19:06

Does it have to be out of Manchester ff? I really fancy Malmaison Maybe city hotels won't be all booked up?

Anteater · 19/03/2005 19:14
