Any ideas of good castles to visit in the north west?

It is soon my wedding anniversary. Dh is very difficult to buy for but he loves castles. So I was thinking of arranging for someone to have kids for the weekend, and going away for the weekend and visiting a castle. Also if anyone knows a nice b and b near the castle they are recommending that would be great. Thanks

Have at look at English Heritage. You might be able to stay in a castle for the weekend - cottage, apartment etc.

Have a look at Landmark Trust too, they have real castles you can stay in! We stayed in a little one (a bit of a folly) in Scotland, Castle of Park, which was fab.

Beeston castle is great, close to Chester which has loads of B&B's and is it set on a hill overlooking the whole of the Cheshire plain.

Otherwise, Conwy? or Skipton?

I was also going to recommend Beeston. Near to a canal thingy as well.
