Car seats on planes

Can you take a car seat on the plane? I mean a rearfacing baby seat.

Could you book the seats by the door and have her in that to sleep in during the flight. Im guessing you would need her strapped onto your lap for take off and landing.

We will need a carseat whilst on holiday so this would solve that problem.

Anyone know about this/ ever done this? DD will be about 7mths.

certain airlines allow an infant carrier if you book a seat. you have to check the small print. who you flying with? wether you hold dc or put in infant carrier is up to airline.

We havent booked yet, I'm just thinking ahead!

We are popping across to spain to visit some friends, so will prob be easyjet or a similar budget airline.

if there's no bulkhead on the aircraft (usual with low cost, they get as many seats in as poss!) the seat by the door will be an emergency exit seat, so no infants allowed there.

The civil aviation authority have really strict rules about carseats on planes that airlines have to follow (width of staps, etc) so some airlines say you can't bring your own, have to hire one from the airline. Best to contact the airline you book with, as they all seem to have different policies!

(yes, she will have to be on your knee whenever the seat belt sign is on, so take off, landing and during turbulance if there is any)

Easyjet let you take car seats on for babies that are over 6 months. I regularly fly with them to visit my parents. I don't take a car seat so I don't know where u would sit etc but I have read the info regarding this on the website.
