Looking to do a cruise around the Med that departs from Rome. So would like to spend a few nights before to see the place. Will be myself and 2ds.

  1. Need a hotel to be pretty central.Love 5* but need to watch the budget so something good value but not rundown.
  2. How do you get to the seaport are there any shuttle buses that go from the centre or would I have to go back to the airport, what is the approx cost?

3.How far is the airport to the city centre/ best way and likely cost.

Any help very welcome

Raisin, whilst you are in Rome, I recommend the kids museum, it was fab for the DD. here

We stayed in a lovely apartment through the bed and breakfast association, who have loads to choose from to suit most budgets from posh to budget. here

We flew to Ciampino, which I believe is closer than the main airport. We got a taxi there and back to/from the outskirts of town, it was roughly 35 Euros.

Whilst in Rome the Roma pass was great value, covers all public transport, also gives discounts off some of the attractions. here

We stayed in Hotel White, just near the Trevi Fountain, can really recommend it as a central base, we walked everywhere. Lovely restaurants nearby and the main tourist bus has it's stop very close by too.
