Ideas needed for 4 weeks away with 3yr old and 1yr old -should we just stay home?

I have the chance to take 4wks off in one go, sometime between mid Feb and end March. Pre kids it would have been a doddle to go somewhere adventurous but how things have changed. Do any MN's have any good ideas? I think they're so young that even if we brave the flight to Far East or Australia we're not going to be able to travel around too much when we're there so would be better off waiting until they're older. Help! Am thinking about Europe and squeezing in some skiing but weather will be pants for rest of it.

why not have a week at home first relaxing with the children, then haved two weeks somewhere in europe then a week recovering from the holiday at home!

I think you should go for it. Children are very adaptable. You can go somewhere such as Australia or New Zealand, or somewhere more adventurous such as South America.

I like the idea of building in time to recover at home afterwards. Have you take children to South America Belgo?

India, Thailand, Vietnam, campervan round the States...go go go while you've got the chance, kids are the same wherever you are (same needs etc) so might as well be somewhere interesting - or at least that was always our theory.

Go for it. School is looming for ds and I wish I'd done something like this when we had the chance as it will be so much harder once he starts school.

Just took 3 year old ds long haul and it was fine.
