DH, DD aged 6 & I are going to see The Lion King as a treat for my 40th birthday. Can anyone reccommend a nice restaurant for a meal afterwards. Thanks.

There's a Wagamama in Covent Garden isn't there? Fab for a family meal and brill for children. It is a chain though - no good if you are wanting a unique London / Cov Gard experience.

There is a bunch of restaurants on Maiden Lane, close to the theatre, including Fire and Stone which is a pizza place but does really, really lovely pizzas with all kinds of fresh ingredients. There is also a Mexican restaurant called Wahaca which is fun with children because they do sharing platters and lots of smaller dishes so you can order and share lots together. Only problem is that Wahaca don't take reservations and depending on the day and time it can be very busy. You could try Belgo on Earlham St for mussels. There is also a Carluccio's around Covent Garden area which does a children's menu. There are loads of great restaurants in the area but if you want your daughter to enjoy the meal as well and not get bored by waiting between courses, any of the above are probably a good bet. On the other hand, if your daughter is very grown-up (unlike my dc at the same age) I could make other recommendations!

The Lion King theatre (can't remember the name ) is only just over waterloo bridge from the South Bank (10mins walk), where there's a branch of giraffe.

canteen is in the same location, and there's lots more choices around there.

there is a chain of turkish type restuarants the name of which I've completely forgotten who were always very child friendly when we visited when I lived in London. I'll have a think
