How much woule you expect to pay for Holiday Insurance for a family of for?

I have been looking on the Internet & the prices vary so much, from £20 upwards.

We are going to Disney Paris & travel company quoted us about £60 & from what I've read, the actual cover is the same.

I think I would feel a little nervous going for the cheaper one in case I have missed something really crucial

£60 sounds like way too much to me. Is it single trip insurance? We paid less than that for an annual European policy.

Can I suggest annual family travel insurance? Far far cheaper than single trip insurance and covers you for everything.

So I pay around £200 for the year for comprehensive insurance for the family for the whole year, including skiing. This is global rather than European but would pay around £120 for European. It also covers for breaks in the UK as well.

I got a family of four, european cover for one year, multi trip for £34 bargain.

If you read Martins advice on travel insurance you will see that you dont actually need a lot of what these more expensive companies offer, he tells you what to look for and what you should need cover wise, then the link will compare policies for you

For a family of 7, with one asthmatic child, we pay just over £200 for a good annual policy.

Don't forget to take these with you too. We got free health care for DS and DD while on holiday in Spain this Summer (don't ask!) by using these cards.

What is the need for the cards then? I thought Holiday insurance covered illness?

My understanding is that most insurance companies will expect you to have them as it covers you for free treatment in an emergency - something to do ewith a reciprocol arrangemnts? Not really sure but they are free you just have to apply for them.

DS cut his head open and they stitched him up - all for free
DD got an ear infection - we saw a doc for free, but did have to pay for the ab (about 7 euros!)
I had to show the cards and then sign a form.

That £34 sounds v good for annual. We pay about £65 for dh, me, dd1 (2), sds (14), dd2 (3 mths) european with wintersports through Insure and go. Have used them for a few yrs now and have claimed for flight back to uk to see grandad who was diagnosed with terminal ca just b4 my wedding, they paid for both flights home to see him and flight back to wedding location ! No quibbles at all. definitely recommend.
