I saw this place recommended on the Travel section and was wondering if anyone here had been there in the last couple of years?
We're trying to find a place that's got the right combination of adult and children needs (but not as expensive as the Simply Travel-type holiday). Me and dh still yearn for those (quiet) holidays off the beaten track, with a suitcase of books to read through during the day and a few bars & tavernas in which to while away the evenings (dream on.......). I guess the opposite is true for our two (aged 6 and 8) who would probably love to meet loads of other children and have a fun/noisy time.
Does this place manage to bridge the gap between quiet and social?
How busy does the swimming pool get? (we're thinking of going in August - good old school holidays eh!)
Here's hoping someone sees this note.

Pat, I went last August for two weeks with my (now soon be ex) husband and 2 kids (then 5 and 2 and half). Accommodation is quite basic but everything you need is there. Nice grassy areas outside the gites so plenty of space for the kids to run around in. Swimming was great, heated pool which we found essential as weather was only around 19/20 C. Pool can get a bit busy sometimes but not so as you would mind. You can usually find a quiet time as there are only 8 (I think) properties on the site. Owners are quite friendly and their daughter did baby sitting (although she was taken into hospital when we were there so a teenager from another gite stepped into the breach). We loved the area , around five excellent beaches within 20 mins drive and they did not seem to get too busy even in peak season. Riec is a quiet place and certainly not somewhere to go if you want a lot of excitement. However I found it extremely relaxing and the kids enjoyed it, found it easy to make friends although no organised activities or childcare. Fabulous fish restaurant in Riec which is well worth a visit, (get a babysitter) the lobster has to be experienced, pricy but worth it. If you are looking for a simple family holiday in France and want to spend a lot of time on the beach then you will have a great time. Cheapest route to the area is ferry to Le Harve and then a four hour drive. However the overnight ferry to St Malo will save you a lot of time and is fun but expensive. Please post again if you want any further info.

Its fully booked for August I think. We tried to book it last year and it was booked up then.

I agree with Neena, the area is fantastic, will be back there this August but staying in a gite - beaches at Kerfany etc are absolutely beautiful, a bit of culture at Pont Aven and lots of standing stones/lovely countryside. But my kids are tiny so socialising not an issue as yet.
