Salisbury - where for lunch

Meeting up with some old friends in Salisbury on Sunday. None of us know it well but it is mutually "half-way".

No children (eek).

Where can we have a nice lunch? We're all on the train.

LXIX is very nice.

Is that the french place hf? Haven't been for ages, but when I lived in Salisbury it really was the crappest place for eating out.

weepootle · 14/11/2008 19:01

Oh, I don't mean LXIX btw- I mean Salisbury!

What sort of food would you like?

There is a nice contemporary Indian near the Station.

Also a nice Thai near the Cathedral.

The normal ASK. Strada.

For Pubs 'The Haunch of Venison' near the Market Place is good.

I lived there too! Kind of modern cuisine in New Street.

There is a really lovely pub just outside Salisbury called the Ship Inn at Burcombe. They do really good food and really good children's menu and also v accommodating with children but recommend you book.

weepootle · 14/11/2008 19:06

Were you in Wilton by any chance?

luckywinner · 14/11/2008 19:07

Oh bugger just saw you have no kids
still recommend the ship inn. me and dh go there on a rare night out.

hf128219 · 14/11/2008 19:07

No, Harnham.

Elk · 14/11/2008 19:08

LXIX doesn't exist anymore it is now a Thai place.

hf128219 · 14/11/2008 19:09

Did the eccentric owner bankrupt it??

luckywinner · 14/11/2008 19:10

I've never had a good meal in LXIX but completely passed me by its not there anymore. What about Prezzo on the corner of (can't remember the name of the street) but just up by Woolies.

weepootle · 14/11/2008 19:15

There was a decent little Italian restaurant just upstairs from Boots, afraid I can't remember what it was called.

Thanks. It's very exciting having a leisurely lunch without small people to entertain. So we will definitely NOT be going to pizza express or ask .
