Munich

Just booked 4 nights in the middle of December flying in/out of Munich. The aim is have a couple of days skiing (waiting to see where, or rather if, it snows before booking hotel) or just enjoy the mountains. Considering a night in Munich before flying home. Can anyone advise on hotels, markets etc. Will be travelling with my sister and DS(6). Any suggestions/thoughts welcome.

The market in Marienplatz (I think it's the U6 stop on the U-Bahn) is lovely. Sorry can't advise on hotels, as I always stay with friends. If you get the chance, try and visit the Hofbräuhaus, it's surprisingly child-friendly. The Obletter toy shop on Karlsplatz is good, too. HTH
