anyone got any destination ideas? canaries think we have decided not reliably hot enough and we dont like hotels as cant leave kids sleeping to eat or go into sunshine really. we sort of are wondering about dubai or egypt but they clearly hotel sort of places. anyone else been here? we have to go then as childcare isnt available at that time and i ahve to take my work holiday at that point....

I take it you want villas then? Kenya, South Africa, Florida, Carribean? They are all further than I would like to travel with kids but if it's sun you're after, you're not going to find it in Europe. I personally wouldn't recommend Egypt to anyone (bad holiday experience).

I think you'll find with Dubai you'll be hard pushed to find a villa, its all hotels there. Florida has no shortage of villas for rent and you'd get a really nice 3 bed one with a pool from around £350 for a week and hopefully get a good deal on flights around then.
I'm with spotty on Egypt, would be very wary about going there with little ones but of course it does depend where you go but you'll probably find that the nice areas are just hotels, not villas.

You can have a beach house here in Kenya for next to nothing, a cook, housekeeper and plenty of sun in January.

now that really is a thought themaster. i was wondering about something along those lines. dont flame me for asking but is it a safe place to go with 2 under 4? whereabouts would you recommend?

Cape Town, South Africa

yes littlemisstickels, thanks. we went there on our honeymoon and it is currently top of the list- prob to stay at camps bay. you would agree with that as an idea?

I have a 7, 4, 18mth old, and we go to Mombasa regularly. Perfectly safe and lovely beaches. Though it really is hot in Jan and you would need to take antimalarials. For ideas about houses along different parts of the coast, check out www.discoverwatamu.com or www.kilifikonnection.com or www.dianibeach.com/cottages/index.htm

www.jinchini.co.uk/ is where we always stay.

Though admittedly Camps Bay also sounds like great option.

thanks. it looks amazing. my husband and i v v v sorely tempted but think for 1 more year we may give a miss as all the advice is not to take our littlest one into malarial area. but if it is jinchini is still around in a year we may well stay there. it looks fantastic. thanks so much for the tip! camps bay prob this jan i think
