would it be crazy/ irresponsible to take our little ones (1.5 and 3.5)? Anyone done similar? We were vaguely thinking Argentina/ Brazil. We used to travel lots and like off-the-beaten track trip but we haven't really done any with the kids yet.

Hi, we took our girls to Australia they were 2,3 and 5 and they were fantastic! We travelled on an awful airline (China eastern) great for budgeting students useless for families, luckily we were armed with books, colouring pencils and a small toy for them each to unwrap which passed more time thn you would think!

we camped and travelled in a campervan from Sydney to the barrier reef, no tv just 'us', they learn't alot even at that young age and it was the best, although scary, thing we have ever done and would do again when we have saved up!

Kids are portable and as long as you are relaxed they will be too, travel is the best way to teach them, go for it and enjoy x

Go for it!
People in South America love kids, I'm sure you will all enjoy it.
One thing I always recommend is make the hole family drink yakult or similar for a week before going away to prepare their tummies for the change of food/water.

Have fun!
