My 2 DS are flying from Manchester to gatwick with BA on 27th Dec to stay with their Dad. How far can you go/wait with them before they get the plane?Or do you have to hand them over as soon as they have checked in.

You check them in and then are sent go to a different 'unaccompanied' counter. There is a lounge here behind this counter only for the kids. So you can give their passports and boarding passes here and leave. Or else you can all wait outside. There are a couple of benches. (At heathrow). You could wait till the last minute when they are all crcodiled off to security.

They wizz though security and are boarded first.

The BA website says that the person dropping them should wait at the airport until the plane has departed - in case there are problems with the flight
