Breastfeeding in Spain

Can anyone give me some advice on whether breastfeeding in public is OK in Spain? We're going to Barcelona for a week when dd will be about 6mo, and I'd like to know if I can feed her in cafes/restaurants without causing offence.

I'm happy feeding her in cafes in the UK, but I can't speak much Spanish and I don't want to upset anyone.

Thanks very much.

I would be very surprised if anyone even blinked much less got offended.

my impression of barcelona and spain generally was that it was an extremely child friendly country. Children are adored so I am sure it will be easier than in the uk

I visited Northern Spain whilst breast feeding ds1. Although it is true that they love children there is also the traditional attitude to women that you have to consider.
They expect women to be a bit more 'demure' than in Northern Europe so I just breastfed quietly in a corner to avoid any seriously funny looks - I'm sure no-one was actually offended.
Don't worry - Barcelons is an international city & they are used to foreigners & their funny ways!

Thanks very much for your help - I'll give it a go discreetly. I guess it will be fairly obvious if there's a problem!

I breastfed my 3 month old DD sitting on a bench on the very glamourous promenade in Marbella, and at a cafe in Puerto Banus. Both times with lots of folk passing by, and no one even noticed!!
