Bonfire and fireworks not far from Folkestone?

DCs have never been to bonfire night.
Does anyone know of a small scale event within 30 min drive of Folkestone on the weekend of 8th November?
Local village do rather than Leeds Castle extravaganza.
Thanks.

Hi Othersideofthechannel.

I'm surprised no one has jumped in to help you.

The net doesn't seem very good for finding fireworks displays, but here's a couple of sites that might help:

Universal Fireworks or IdeasForTheKids.

Have been to (and really enjoyed) the Tyler Hill and Kent County Cricket displays in Canterbury in the past (many years ago)...but both are on the wrong weekend for you. Perhaps one of the others is worth chasing though?

...or maybe this post will prompt a few more suggestions from someone

Thanks esc.

Will check out those sites.

For next year, because I didnt see this in time, rusthall bonfire society (just outside T,Wells) holds a proper torchlit procession, a huge bonfire and has loads of lovely fireworks and its all free.

I also saw this being advertised
elsewhere But havent been and cant comment.
Bet these are a million miles away from folkstone

Hawkinge Cricket Club seems to be on the right night for us. Tis only 3 mile from Folkestone.
I have emailed for info.

Why is it too late for Rusthall? Have they already had their bonfire?

There's usually ones at Sellinge, lyminge, I haven't seen many signs yet though.

Catweazle, do you know if you can pay on the gate?

I believe so. We last went there a few years ago and didn't get advance tickets.

Thanks.
