I've never been to Brighton and we were thinking of going on Saturday, the kids want to go to the sea, and we thought some perhaps interesting shops to wander around, dont want to spend a fortune going into things, any recommendations and whats the pier like?, is parking a pain, etc, we did look at going by train and its going to cost us £150.00, I think not...

I lived there 10 years ago and went on a day trip last year. We parked at a park and ride place then got a bus in, that was pretty easy. I would: go for a walk left along the seafront for a bit, nice little shops under the arches and things to look at, the pier is ok, a bit cheesy as all good piers should be, then I would head up the laines the shopping bit.

North Laines - a bit more 'alternative'
South Laines ' a bit posher (nearer the sea)

My favourite restaurant in the world is there a great veggie place called Terre a terre - fab with kids, bit pricey but worth it. (and I.m not a veggie!) - in the SOuth Laines,

I Love brighton!
