Where's warm (in Europe) in February?

So, if I found the money to get passports for all of us and still have some left to actually book a holiday, where would be good to go to in February for half term?

think you might need to go a little further for warm weather - the canaries maybe?

TotalChaos · 18/10/2008 08:24

Souther Italy or Sicily should at least be warmer than here

NotQuiteCockney · 18/10/2008 08:35

Cyprus should be fine - I was there in January, a few years back, and it was 20-25.

Cyprus or the canaries are the only ones likely to have "lying on the beach" weather in Feb but Spain/Greece etc. will be much warmer than here (t shirt weather probably but probably not sunbathing).

I had a lovely holiday in Portugal in Feb half term once. We managed lying on the beach once and by the pool a couple of times but not really swimming weather. It was warm the whole time though

Thanks! I've found this website thanks to another Mumsnet thread, and due to bad cough and cold have been planning holidays since 5am!

Although I'm now thinking that I really can't get passports + holiday funds between now and February, what with that pesky Christmas thing (oh and ds1's birthday) in December... Might have to be May half term - or even October 2009!

Just thought I'd let you know about a website called wunderground.com
It gives you the weather conditions for most places for any given day for the last 10 years or so. It does something called trip planner, you tell it where you want to go and when and it will give you the actual weather history so you can see what it should be like. There's another called weather2travel which is also good but doesn't give actual past weather data.

Canaries, I'd say. Plus February is Carnival time, which are hugely celebrated there.

I used to live in southern Spain, and at that time of year it really wasn't warm. Jumper and coat for the natives, just jumper for hardy Brits! Plus, it could rain A LOT.

Cyprus usually pleasant enough then so I'm told by friends who live there. 4 hour flight, though.
