I am thinking of a weekend in Venice for early spring

Can anyone recommend any good hotels and places to see? I know this is going to cost a fortune isn't it?...

There is sooooo much to see in Venice. You really cannot go wrong. All the usual tourist sites. Get on a boat out to the islands.

It's just beautiful. Honest. Everyone told us that and we said, yeah, yeah, I'm sure it's very nice and all that.... then we got there and went "bloody hell, it's beautiful!"

If you want a cheaper hotel, try the mainland rather than the island. There are plenty of trains to get you there and it doesn't take long.
