We've got 2 DD's who will be 4 and 6. DH feels as though we've done Europe and doesn't fancy Canaries. Where would be a good suggestion? Egypt too hot in summer I think and Caribbean is in rainy hurricane season.

What kind of holiday do you like? The lazy beach type, sightseeing and culture, or a mix?

MurderAtTheDiscoDizzy · 16/10/2008 19:26

A mix of both really. Everywhere we seem to be looking at has rain in July August.

Hmm, wanted to leave Florida until DD's were a little older. Thanks though.

Also Florida can be very hot (and rainy athough usually just for an hour or so a day) in July and August. We used to always go easter or October but this year went July and too hot (plus parks all really busy which is not much fun queuing with little kids!) Have you thought about places like Turkey or Greece? Not as hot as Egypt and some places have really good kids clubs (Mark Warner holidays? Not been myself but hear they are fab)

How about Cape Cod? It is lovely in July and August and is great for young kids.

Carribbean is fine in July well has been for us last few years- you may get some rain - but likely the odd shower - went to Cuba this July 10 minutes rain in total.

We have been to St Lucia in late July early Aug with dds. It was hot hot hot, no rain (however it does have rain forest, so it could be expected at anytime). Most people choose Barbados I guess as it does not have a rain forest, or for other reasons. Not for me.

We went to watch the Carnival, went to the rain forest, had a boat trip snorkeling and also just relaxing and swimming. We can only do a week due to work commitments, but worth saving for it every time. The youngest was about 5 when we first took them, great age to get confident at swimming and snorkeling.

Florida is very close to the Caribbean and Hurricane season effects the US too (by then normally strengthened), although the two never appear to pop up in peoples thoughts as being associated in relationship to one another.
