I need to hire car seats when i visit familly at xmas in the north east - any ideas where you can hire them from? Car hire companies won't hire unless you're hiring the car too....

Can your family join their local freecycle network? It's far enough in advance that I bet they'd see car seats on there. I understand that you might not be happy about second hand, of course. In which case, would their local council help?

Can I ask a sort of related question? What kind of car/booster seat will my 27kg/5 stone/1.25m 7 year old son need while we're in the UK? I researched this website...do I need a seat with a full back like the picture shows? We have one for him that's just the bottom seat, without the back. We will only need one for 3 days, so I'm tempted to rent one so as not to use up one of our precious free luggage allotments...
