Air Jamaica: kids' entertainment?

Just had a look at the Air Jamaica site - no mention of kids' movies/in-flight entertainment. Has anyone used them recently?

Just out of interest, have you booked a holiday to Jamaica. We were thinking of going but would need somewhere suitable with entertainment type stuff?

Hersetta · 07/10/2008 08:56

Not the best choice if you have children as Air Jamaica don't have seat back TV's so there won't be any choice of movies - you're just stuck with what is played on the overhead screens. To be honest they don't have a fantastic reputation for being on time and the fact that they only have a very small fleet of planes means that if one has a technical problem, you are often delayed by a day rather than a few hours - see the reviews on airlinequality.com.

personally I'd choose BA or Virgin.

Hmmmm. Air Jamaica weren't great for us. No kids entertainment and the stewardesses weren't very helpful compared to Virgin / BA.

Disco - yes, booked - but our villa has no kids entertainment, just pool and beach! (We also have family out there.)

OK everyone, we've already booked so don't be the voices of doom thanks! You know Air J is run by Virgin now? Anyway sounds like we may need to invest in portable DVD players ...

I thought Air Jamaica were bought out by Virgin? Or is that just the UK flights? We're going to starfish trewlawny in falmouth! Loads to do for kids there, although the resort is a bit secluded unlike Ochio rios and Negril, which are more town like.

franch · 07/10/2008 11:08

Have a great time minor. We're between St Anne's Bay and Ocho Rios - quiet area, have stayed in the villa before.

Yes Air J were bought out by Virgin so I was wondering if they maybe use Virgin planes now - have my doubts tho, judging by their site. Have emailed them.

You have a splendid time too Franch! Hope they have upgraded the planes, it's a long time to travel with LO's isn't it!

We'll be visiting family in Kingston and DH who was born in JA, wants to do some of the tourists spots because as a civilian he's never been them! We're going for xmas which will next a nice change.

minorbirdOnElmstreet · 07/10/2008 12:47

'make' a nice change even.

franch · 07/10/2008 13:01

DH's family is Jamaican too altho he was born here. Can't wait - we're off this half term. We've been before but not with the DDs - should be fun!

Virgin and Air Jamaica codeshare their flights to Jamaica hence their association. They still though use Air Jamaica planes.

franch · 07/10/2008 17:21

Hmm. DVD player it is, I think. And snacks from home. Thanks for the warning folks!
