egypt - tips? also any recommendations for interesting tour operators (egypt or elsewhere)

been to egypt about 3 times, and lived there for a summer, but all in my younger child-free skint not bothered by cockroaches days. any tips for taking dds? where to go? where to stay?

also anyone used an interesting tour operator? how was it? did you spend all holiday trying to get away from your rep or from Julie and Brian from Woking? did you hate being told what to do? or was it hassle free and easy to let someone else take charge?

a friend went to egypt with the adventure company, family section, they really enjoyed it

thanks bluesky. we've decided to go it alone. all the tour operators I looked at did 4 stops in 10 days and all included Aswan - which I'm not convinced will interest the kids. we booked flights today in fact so am very excited. haven;t been on an interesting holiday for years (France on a ferry every time since dd2 arrived...).
