It is upside down cottage, in little village with 2 pubs and shop

Has 2 steep gardens and parking for about 2-3 cars

The youth hostel has family rooms available, and you can either self cater or have the odd meal. Gardens are in National Trust ground, can't remember how suitable they might be for playing in IYSWIM.
