One week off in Feb, one 14 month old boy. Where to go?

We didn't have a summer holiday so would like to go away in February. We are open minded but have no experience of foreign travel with a baby.

We are not looking for childcare as we want to spend time as a family. Would rather avoid really long flights and heat over about 28 degrees.

Any tips?

Or what about Madeira?
For the baby bring loads of toys, we hardlt brought any with us when ds1 was that age and he got very bored in the apartment.
